INERTIA
![]() |
Inertia is the natural tendecy of an object to remain at rest or in motion of constant speed along a straight line. The mass of an object is a quanitative measure of inertia. This is used in basketball because, if you were to throw the ball to your fellow teammate, it will continue to go in a straight line unless your opponent were to swat it away. Newton's 1st law of motion also adress this issue. His first law states that an object continues in a state of rest or in a state of motion at a constant speed along a straight line, unless compelled to change that state by a net force or outside force. |
